Step-by-step installation

iOS Setup Guide

Using the free Shortcuts app to automatically fetch and apply your wallpaper every day at midnight.

    App Open the Shortcuts app
    Launch Shortcuts on your iPhone — it's built into iOS. Tap the Automation tab at the bottom of the screen.

    Trigger Create a new Personal Automation
    Tap New Automation → Time of Day → set the time to 12:01 AM → select Daily → tap Next.
    Turn OFF “Ask Before Running” so it runs silently in the background — no interruptions.

    Action Add “Get Contents of URL”
    Tap Add Action → search for Get Contents of URL and select it. Paste your unique Dharma Daily wallpaper URL into the URL field.
    Your URL is shown above — copy it before continuing.

    Action Add “Set Wallpaper Photo”
    Tap + to add another action → search Set Wallpaper Photo → add it.

    Set the image source to Contents of URL (the output from step 3). Choose Lock Screen as the target.

    Settings Disable Show Preview & Crop to Subject
    In the “Set Wallpaper Photo” action, toggle OFF “Show Preview” and toggle OFF “Crop to Subject”.
    If you skip this step, iOS may show a preview dialog every morning and block the automation.

    Done Save & run a quick test
    Tap Done to save. To test right now: open the automation list, tap your new automation, then tap Run. Your lock screen should update within a few seconds.
    To update your URL later, just tap the Get Contents of URL action and paste the new one.

    Install Download MacroDroid
    Search for MacroDroid on the Google Play Store and install it. It’s free for up to 5 macros — more than enough.

    Setup Create a new Macro
    Open MacroDroid → tap Macros at the bottom → tap Add Macro (the + button).

    Trigger Set the daily timer
    Tap Add Trigger → Date / Time → Day / Time.
    Set the time to 00:01:00 (1 minute after midnight). Enable all days, or select your preferred days.

    Action 1 Download the wallpaper image
    Tap Add Action → Web Interactions → HTTP Request.

    • Method: GET
    • URL: paste your Dharma Daily wallpaper URL
    • Enable “Block next actions until complete”
    • Under Response, tick “Save HTTP response to file”
    • Folder & filename: /Download/wallpaper.png

    Action 2 Apply as wallpaper
    Tap Add Action → Device Settings → Set Wallpaper.

    • Choose “Image and Screen”
    • Image location: /Download/wallpaper.png
    The filename must be identical in both actions. Even a single character difference will break it.

    Save Name & create the Macro
    Give your macro a name like “Daily Spiritual Wallpaper” → tap Create Macro to save it.
  7. 7
    Test Run a quick test
    Select your macro → tap More options (⋮) → Test macro. Your wallpaper should update in a few seconds.
    To update your URL later: tap the macro → tap the HTTP Request action → paste new URL → save.
That’s it — you’re all set! Every morning at midnight your lock screen will quietly update with fresh wisdom from the scriptures.
